Grammer's Farm.....Grammer School!

You Can Teach a NEW Farmer OLD Tricks!!!

Homeschooling Boys...............is just NOT the same as Homeschooling girls.... ahhh..sweet still sitting girls....  Girls to whom good grammar comes easy...NOT SO LITTLE BOYS!
We were struggling with our articles, adjectives and adverbs today and then I remembered the cute little sentence city set I bought a few months back to inspire the kids while learning parts of speech and to take it up a notch, we decided to bring out the HEAVY MACHINERY .......... We got out all the John Deere toys and trucks that we could think of.... we had some word farming to do!

It's All About John Deere..... and a John Deere can do ANYTHING!!!!
First Up - Punctuation Patch
             Enter the Coma-bine....

(get it combine?)...... that's right we planted a field full of punctuation marks and the coma-bine had to harvest them, load them in the semi and deliver them to sentence city.  (I know, clever right????  Thank you Holy Spirit)

We also planted conjunctions and used the combine to "combine" sentences.   The boys were so engaged in this that we soon had fields of nouns, adjectives, articles and verbs sprouting all over "Grammer's Farm".

You see, boys need a purpose...  and identifying parts of speech just to learn it... doesn't qualify.  Boys need a job to do.  A NOUN (person place or thing) to rescue! (sneaky huh?)

We also found a fun way to use our emergency equipment.  We had an emergency in our verb vegetables and had to call in the police helicopter to search for accident verbs....(any action word that could be used in describing an accident or that could cause an accident....) the boys were amazing with the sentences they came up with!

We continued this with nouns and adjectives as well....    they played this for hours...  I was able to leave and go to the kitchen and enjoy listening to their "big man voices" on their pretend CB radios as they called out sentence after sentence and hauled the parts of speech into town to be sorted into the appropriate store!

I was feeling quite proud of my accomplishments today... and thinking how clever I am... that I came up with this all by myself...... and then I remembered the special time Jake and I spent in prayer this morning before everyone else got up... we asked God to help us today...........And did he ever deliver!!
WOW OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!

GOD BLESS LITTLE BOYS!

Isaiah 60:21 Then will all your people be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor.
